Need Assistance with Water Cleanup in Willimantic – Call SERVPRO®

Willimantic was initially settled by Samuel Ashley around 1717 and became a center for textile mills situated along the river. The city received its charter in 1893 and prospered until the outbreak of the 2nd World War. It was a central rail hub, with as many as a hundred trains passing through the city every day. After the war, the economy of the town declined, and mills moved to other locations. They were absorbed into the city of Windham.

SERVPRO provides water cleanup services to Willimantic residents and business owners. Water leaks from broken plumbing, overflowing sinks, tubs, and inactive sump pumps can cause water to leak onto floors, inside walls, and inside ceilings. Small leaks that go unnoticed cause structural damage to drywall, sheetrock, and other porous materials long before the homeowner notices the damage. High moisture levels inside walls may lead to mold infestations, causing strong, musty odors to permeate rooms and enclosed areas.

Once the source of the moisture has been located and repaired, we install high-capacity air movers and dehumidifiers to lower moisture levels and dry the space. Moisture sensors are utilized to locate pockets of water or high moisture areas inside walls. Specialized wands are used to extract water from difficult-to-reach areas. Weighted water extractors remove water from carpets. Vacuum mats are used on hardwood floors to remove water before being absorbed by the wood, which causes buckling and warping of the hardwood floor planks.

During the drying process, our team:

  • Monitors the space, checks for moisture pockets, and adjusts the air movers to optimize the drying process.
  • We clean and sanitize all surfaces once humidity measurements have reached normal levels.
  • Porous materials (Drywall, Sheet Rock, Fabrics, etc.) are evaluated and repaired/restored as needed.

We return your building to its original condition “Like it never even happened.”
