Before winter hits, be sure to prepare! This can include taking steps to start conserving energy during the winter heating season. Here are some tips on saving winter costs for your business
- Lower thermostats during off hours. The #1 business money waste in the fall and winter is by heating unoccupied space. We recommend a programmable thermostat that you can set and forget!
- Take advantage of off-peak hours. Energy is the most expensive during the peak hours of 9-5. If you have equipment that requires a lot of energy, try to stagger the use during off-peak hours to avoid surges in usage
- Replace air filters. Consider setting up a schedule and reminders to regularly change filters. This will help keep internal parts clean and ensure that a dirty filter doesn't choke airflow
- Utilize free energy. Open those blinds and let the light in! To make sure heat stays where you need it, seal leaky windows and doors.
It all adds up! Even little changes can help in the long run. These changes don't require a lot of investment or effort, just a commitment from you and your team and a desire to us energy in a smarter way.
