Clean Out Your Gutters Before Winter Storms

Cleaning your gutters is a pain! We know! But you have to do it! If your gutters are filled with debris and leaves, water can't drain out properly causing them to overflow. When this happens the water could cause water damage to walls, soffits, fascia, siding, basements and even your foundation. During the winter if the trapped water freezes, melting snow has no where to go and can seep through your roof causing water damage. Frozen water and debris can also be very heavy, which can cause gutters to sag and detach from your home.
When it comes to your gutters:
- Don't leave them until they are already clogged with fall leaves.
- Clean gutters at least twice a year, more if there a trees near by
- Remember pine needles can also clog gutters, just not fall foliage
If you want to make sure your investment holds up keep a regular maintenance schedule. Fall is the perfect time, get out there before it's too cold!
