When Trees Fall
10/14/2019 (Permalink)
Here in Connecticut we've already seen some bad damage from fall storms, and winter is coming. No matter the season, any storm can cause trees to go down onto electrical lines, block roads or even fall on your car or home. If this happens please remember:
Safety First
Evacuate your home and get to a safe location, then call 911. If you are unable to evacuate your home or if your in doubt about electrical or structural stability, call 911 immediately for help.
Protect Your Home
Parts of your roof and interior may be exposed when a tree falls. After everyone is safe take the necessary steps to prevent further rain, wind, temperature or theft damage to your home. Secure your valuables, cover anything that could be damaged with tarps, lock your doors and make sure to stay away from the area until it is safe from falling debris, electrical hazards or unstable flooring.
Call Your Insurance Company
Notify your insurance company of the situation so you can begin restoring the damage as soon as possible and using the proper procedure in accordance with your specific policy.
